Margie Theresa Sekandi, Administrator
Margie graduated from Temple University with a B.S. in Public Health. Margie is a seasoned assisted living Administrator and well-rounded health care administrative professional having worked at some of the largest assisted living companies including Brookdale Senior Living, Sunrise Senior Living, and Thrive Senior Living. Margie is passionate about providing assisted living services in a small facility and is keenly aware of the challenges to receiving personalized care for seniors in large assisted living buildings with poor staffing ratios and constant employee turnover. Margie is an enthusiastic advocate for leisure education awareness and maintaining good health behaviors. Margie is a passionate mother to her son and daughter and she enjoys entertaining, traveling, and volunteering.
Jamie Robinson, M.D., Co-Owner
Jamie is a Major and practicing general surgeon in the U.S. Army who was raised in a military family. Her father retired as a First Sergeant in the Marine Corps and her mother retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer. She was born in a Naval Hospital in San Diego and moved eight times before settling on Whidbey Island off the coast of Seattle.
Jamie knew she wanted to work in the health care field and help others from an early age. She won an award for the most “candy striper” volunteer hours at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco when she was 18 years old. Next, she worked as an E.M.T. driving an ambulance in Seattle. Then she worked as a Phlebotomist. And then she worked as a medical assistant in the trauma center of the Harbor Medical center in Seattle.
Jamie attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her General Surgery Residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland. Her residency consisted of operating and caring for our nation’s wounded as well as military family members and retirees in the D.C. area.
Gene Robinson, Co-Owner
Gene began working with seniors when he was 15 years old when he was employed in the kitchen of Sunnyside Assisted Living in Harrisonburg, Virginia. At this young age he sensed a desire to assist seniors as he served their meals and pushed the silver food carts down the halls to the residents’ rooms which led to a career assisting the elderly.
Mr. Robinson is an elder law attorney who has had his own practice in Arlington, Virginia since 2009. His practice is dedicated to the unique legal challenges which effect seniors such as functioning with declining capacity, fighting elder abuse, estate planning, and long term care planning. Mr. Robinson is the co-chair of the Arlington County Bar Association Elder Law Section and the Treasurer of the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Mr. Robinson has volunteered for multiple local senior services organizations such as the Arlington County Long Term Residences Commission, the Arlington County Steering Committee for Services to Older Persons, and the Arlington County Volunteer Guardianship Program. Mr. Robinson regularly performs pro bono services for incapacitated seniors through his guardianship practice and was recently honored by the Arlington County Bar Foundation for his pro bono advocacy on behalf of incapacitated and disadvantaged Arlingtonians.
